COBAR SOUND CHAPEL

OUR 2023 LIVE FESTIVAL
We have just announced our first
LIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL
at the Cobar Sound Chapel!

The central event will be a superb

STRING QUARTET CONCERT
Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 5pm.
It will be presented by the brilliant 2023 Fellows of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Earlier in the day, from 10am to 12 noon, we are also thrilled to present an exciting new sound composition,
SOUND AND STORIES, created by students from Cobar High School.
Mums and Dads, family and friends, please all come and join us for this wonderful opportunity to admire your children's and your community's great creativity, presented inside the Cobar Sound Chapel!
Also at this event - some exciting
woodwind and brass presentations from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows!

... and finally, on the night of October 14, after the 5pm concert, there will be a
NIGHT OF THE OPEN DOOR
with the Sound Chapel unlocked and open to all until late, and where visitors can drop in to experience the sounds and atmosphere of the Chapel in the dark. All welcome, expect perhaps the faint-hearted!!

All these events are intended to bring the whole community together and will be completely
FREE
thanks to our wonderful sponsors,

Manuka Resources
to whom we express our thanks for their generosity and support! These events are part of our first annual Live Festival Weekend at the Cobar Sound Chapel, which will be held in conjunction with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra's Fellowship program. We will feature the Sydney Symphony's finest young up-and-coming professional musicians playing some of the greatest classical music ever written - and perhaps also some not quite as classical, thanks to local singer-songwriter legend Shane Josephson, who has written a special song inspired by the Sound Chapel and will be presenting it at the main concert at 5pm!  Not to be missed!
The Festival Weekend will run from Thursday to Saturday,
October 12 - October 14, and will feature
workshops, mini-concerts and other educational activities at Cobar Primary School and Cobar High School.

Please bring your own chairs, as there is only limited supply! Thank you!

For their help in organising the event, we also wish to express our thanks to
Cobar Shire Council.

***

We look forward to welcoming you to the
Cobar Sound Chapel for these special events!
